Best wishes and 73 Alan Roe ** BRAZIL. 9664.95, May 30 at 0623, RVM in Portuguese S7. Variable frequency, never spot on 9665.000. TE signals somewhat enhanced, also JBA carrier about 9818.54, R. Nove de Julho, always way below nominal 9820. Only two ZYs left on 31m (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 2749 USB, June 1 at 0240 UT, marine weather YLish voice, not readable but recognizable, vs HSNL. DXinfocentre.com shows VCS Halifax starting at 0240, 1500 watts. Pleased to be getting this much in summer condx. At 0303 recheck in French, tho VCS not shown as EE/FF, nothing else scheduled. Nothing either time on 2598 USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. Correxions to previous report: 28193, VE4ARM/B info from WGB beacon roster, not QRZ.com - And it`s not VE5ARM, typo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 28193 CW, June 4 at 2206, VVV DE VE4ARM/B ... E x 17. Same as May 28 log, q.v. Only one other 10m beacon heard, see USA, and no phones (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 93.5, June 3 at 1800 UT, snippet of Canadian news mentioning a minister, immediately fading out. I`ve just turned on caradio after Es FM DX MUF spiking 114 MHz to the NE of here, and afterwards on DXMAP I see a lot of paths between Ontario and here; and the most likely of the few full-power stations there is the CBC one, per WTFDA FMDB: CBCL-FM 93.5 LONDON ON CAN 100.0 kW H only, 267.2m, Mono NEWS/TALK, CBC RADIO ONE 93.5 FM. Kept tuning for another semihour but no sign of any other Es (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, June 1 at 0245, R. Rebelde is off; something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. Likewise 9580 China relay, suptorted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, June 2 at 0615, R. Rebelde is off again, but I think was on earlier circa 0445. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, June 3 at 0624, music = noise level, but enough to tell that R. Rebelde is not off the air this time; something`s not wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15230, June 4 at 2213, RHC S6/S8 and JBM, presumably Portuguese. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** HAWAII. 10000, June 2 at 0445, WWVH hourly prop info was so long that the end of it about blackouts was cut off by announcement of next minute 0446. At least WWVH is propagating, and other Pacificans, NZ and Vanuatu, not much else (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY. 1322.994+, June 2 at 1950 UT, music to ``Off the Wall`` anti-Trump talk. From IRRS SW relay via AM Italia. S9 at first into UTwente, but some deep fades into noise. Like so much of its ``schedule``, IRRS does not show any specific program title at this time, so no commitment, who knows what will appear next week? Nor is it among the hundreds of programs at publicradiofan.com - but I find program website as if it`s only on WUSB: https://www.2600.com/offthewall/ Not to be confused with sibling show `Off the Hook` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEWFOUNDLAND. 6604 USB, June 1 at 0255, VOLMET from Gander. Reminder that time is running out. It`s about to be closed down: ``This change will take effect on 12 June 2025 at 0901Z Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)`` per https://www.navcanada.ca/en/flight-planning/service-notices/2025-06-12-gander.aspx Other frequencies are 3485, 10051 and 13270, at :20-:30 and :50-:60 past the hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 9700 // 11725, Sat May 31 at 0617, RNZP in AM on both, and equally S9/+30, with ``Get Your Kix on Route 66`` version by The Rolling Stones! as back-announced. I`m a Rt 66 guy! having spent my first nine years in our house right next to it in Santa Rosa NM. I thought this would be RNZ`s request show, but on sked does not start until 0708: ``7:08 PM. Saturday Night - Saturday nights on RNZ National is where Paul Brennan plays the songs YOU want to hear. All music from 7 till midnight (RNZ)``. During the previous hour it`s: ``6:06 PM. Nashville Babylon - Mark Rogers offers the very best in Americana, alt country, folk, soul and blues music (RNZ)`` and with playlist: ``Artist: Rolling Stones, Track: Route 66, Composer: Bobby Troup, Album: The Rolling Stones, Label: Decca``. {Rt 66 see OKLAHOMA} RNZP own sked shows 11725 only until 0758, then from 0759, both 9700 & 11725. This conflicts with two other 9700 stations listed in EiBi, but no sign of them: Ouargla, Algeria until 0700, and Romania in German at 0600-0630! Aoki however shows ALG ending at 06, and I rather doubt they are there at all (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND. 9700 // 11725, June 2 at 0610, RNZP again on two frequencies, both good unlike anything else on bands, in near-blackout. And again, this does not match what their own schedule shows, so which is ``wrong``? Sked, or axual operation? https://www.rnz.co.nz/international/listen 20:59 - 00:00 17675 Pacific Daily 00:00 - 05:58 17675 Updated 1 June 2025 Pacific Daily 05:59 - 07:58 11725 Pacific Daily 07:59 - 10:58  9700 + 7425 Pacific Daily 10:59 - 12:58  9700 + 7425 Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, PNG Daily 12:59 - 16:50  7440 Pacific Sun - Fri 12:59 - 16:58  7440 Pacific Sat The 1650/2059 period is very complex with DRM and DOW variations. And when they are on two AM frequencies at once, should we assume the azimuths be different? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND. 11725 // 9700, June 4 at 0628, RNZP still on two frequencies contrary to own sked which shows 11725 only until 0759 becomes 9700 +7425. Caught my ear with dead air, and a few more drops to dead air as BBC relay is ending, ``rejoining RNZ`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6924.9 AM, June 1 at 0258, distorted pirate voices. These say it`s Liquid Radio, on ``6925`` but no later than 0147: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,145888.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6930 USB, June 1 at 0259, pirate music. UNID here by several, including fuzzy SSTV something about `DEMOCRATS`, and full-screen `UNID`: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,145896.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6949.8 AM, June 1 at 0300, pirate music. Several IDs here as R. Free Euphonia on ``6950``: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,145897.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, May 29 at 0549, JBA carrier, presumably Station YHWH running late again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, June 3 at 0615, JBA carrier on inside random wire during storm, safe to presume it`s Station YHWH running late (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1210 kHz, June 1 at 0305 UT, KGYN, The Big Talker, 5-state, with weather forecast including Memorial Day! So must be a week old! 0306 into `Intelligence Briefing`, another far right talk show, and in the previous hour accusing Pres. Sheinbaum of being a Marxist. BTW, bigsig so must be cheating ND again instead of DA away from us and WPHT (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. A very vintage QSL from KCRC Enid is illustrated here, when it was running 100 watts on 1370 before 1390, apparently heard in NZ, in 1931: https://radiodx.com/?s=kcrc  Some info on that card was already outdated, marked out, corrected (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 87.9, June 3 at 1801 UT, the neighborly open carrier in $tereo is on again. Off by 2210. 95.5, June 2 circa 1945 UT, rock music lowpower pirate peaking around Garriott and Cleveland in Enid is still going, as I drive thru the area again. Not enough to capture from QRM, but fading away a few blox north (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. I was seeking Es FM DX with lots of stuff on the maps, but all I am hearing are tornado warning coverage all over the dial, as many but not all OKC area stations are relaying one TV station audio or another. KOCO ``5`` and KOKH ``25`` are on it, but the ones I can recognize are KFOR ``4`` and KWTV ``9``. This is a rush job and many not all be correct, in the 2216-2245 UT period June 3: KFOR ON: 88.5, 89.7, 90.1, 90.5, 94.7, 96.1, 100.5, 101.9, 102.7. Also on AM 1000, 1340 vs huge noise level so not all signals are even audible. KWTV ON: 91.7, 92.5, 92.9, 93.3, 95.3, 96.9, 98.9, 99.7, 104.1, 107.7, and at 2242 even 104.5 which would be Woodward way out of the risk area. And 1520 KOKC like on 95.3. Most of the gospel huxters ignored the tornado situation, with exception of The House on 88.5 & 89.7: good for them. Coverage but not sure from which TV station: 98.1. Some hastened to resume regular programming ASAP circa 2230: 90.1, 98.1, 98.9, 100.5. Other obs: 93.7 KSPI Stillwater stayed in rock music. 106.7 KTUZ in live? Spanish but unseemed about weather. 104.7 Ponca outside the storm area, dead air in $tereo at 2221, 2234. 105.1 stayed in stupid sports talk. Of course, no mere radio station has its own meteorology department. One must admit that the visual element is very useful if not essential (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non] `Samantha Brown`s Places to Love` on PBS/OETA Create channel is in a marathon including this episode: Route 66 - Missouri to Oklahoma #809 --- Samantha starts her trip with a view of the St. Louis Arch and visits Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, famous for its thick desserts. She meets author Michael Wallis, who shares insights on Route 66. Exploring Cuba, Missouri, she admires colorful murals and the Osage Trail Legacy monument. Crossing the Arkansas River, she stops at the Uranus Fudge Factory. In Carthage, she learns about a little-known Civil War battle before heading to Springfield, the official birthplace of Route 66. In Kansas, she visits Gearhead Curios, a unique pit-stop, then meets a joyful business owner at Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios in Tulsa. Finally, she reflects on the Tulsa massacre at a memorial before learning why Tulsa is known as the Route 66 capital. A while ago I made a misleading comment about the KNK language abbreviation, for Kirundi/Kinyarwanda, as related to the genocide of 1994, of the Tutsi by the Hutu. That was not a language schism, as both ethnicities speak Kinyarwanda. Kirundi is the language of neighboring Burundi, presumably related but not an issue in the genocide, as I understand it. Would those who quoted that item please also publish this clarification (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 15500, 15520, 17715, 15390, Fri May 30 at 2159, SNR all four in decreasing order of strength, as 17715 for Europe is much weaker than recently with reduced MUF. 15390 // 15520 at first, then all join for token English. Preview feature about a film commission, impact of tariffs on US industry and locations in Spain; no news but instead at 2201 report from Lebanon correspondent about a Spanish music festival in the mountains on May 21. By 2206 already into the film topic (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 15390, Mon June 2 at 2200, token English from SNR is VP but better here on ME azimuth than the other three into UTwente, all of which are offbeam or too close. At 2210 into Maryland SDR, 15500 for NAm is the only one usable, tho much weaker S5/S7 due to degraded propagation, than usual inbooming, the others JBA, 15520, 17715; and 15390 has a LAH = low audible heterodyne never heard otherwise (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17715, Wed June 4 at 2211, token English from SNR at S9+20 direct despite S American aim, almost as good as 15500 to NAm, S9+20/40. Also 15520 for ME S9+10, but 15390 to Africa is JBA S9 = noise level. Discussion of violence against women, feminist movement (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.004+, May 30 at 2158, VOT not off the air, but JBA direct vs noise level. At 2236 into UTwente when measured, S9+30/40, Efsun the axentuated voicing something I can hardly understand. 2238 music. 2245 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2247 musix. 2254 s/off as if it`s 17620 at 1230, awry at Ankara, bit of IS and off by 2255* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9875.005-, Sun June 1 at 2040, VOT English off the back, S9+20/25 into UTwente, during `The Pulse of Turkish Foreign Policy`, clearly read fluently and rapidly, but MEGO as to subject. 2047 outro credit to a Dr. somebody, whose name one could not possibly understand unless already knowing it, ``goodbye``. 2048 music. 2053 TRTVOTVorld.com promo, music. 2057 `Letterbox`, usual hostess Cemre says it has been a busy week, people in the office getting sick, messing up work schedules, but listeners would not notice. Welcomed a new colleague in English Dept., who had been in some other dept., before that English, could not catch name. 1) Mr. Mike Pisz?, Poland, sent two reports. 2) Jayanta Chakroborty, India, notifies that 03 broadcast 26/5 had no signal on 7275 or 6165 {perhaps like 23/5 was on accidentalternate 9465 instead; don`t they read WOR/iog reports??}. But 27/5 & 28/5 they were back. She suggests that high winds in Ankara 26/5 which blew off some roofs might have been the cause. Asks her to ID a song heard at an exact time and she does. 3) Olek?, near Brest, Belarus. 4) W Bengal. 5) K. Oitana?, Japan. This and a previous one addressed their reports to ``Dear Sirs`` -- sexists! Is a 61-year-old pharmacist, SWL for 49 years. 6) Patrick --, Ireland, heard German. 7) Chris --, Canada, postal strike not yet? 8) Mario in Zaragoza, Spain, on a Spanish broadcast. 2105 show ends without a music insert, outro/intro theme; and tune-out. BUT: 11780, June 1 at 2232, I check UTwente for the next English broadcast which I don`t need to hear, missing from 11785, but incredibly on 11780.006+ instead! That will clash with Brasil, but S9+10/15 and no QRM into UTwente. Then I check Maryland SDR, and find VOT buried under silly ballgame from Brasil. What a mess! TRT had been advised to shift from 11785 to 11790 in order to avoid adjacent QRM, but instead moved onto 11780 to make it co-channel QRM! I wonder how long it will take them to correct that? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, June 2 at 2200 and later chex into UTwente, no signal from VOT in English; not on 11780 either like yesterday, just traces of Brasil; nor on 11790 where they were advised to move; nor on accidentalternate 9875. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler and/or awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.006+, June 3 at 2211, JBA carrier direct, so VOT English seems back on proper frequency. Yes, at 2252 into UTwente when measured, multi-lingual ID filler reel, 2253 s/off as if 1230 on 17620, awry at Ankara, 4 notes of IS before chop 2254*. Very bigsig but did not get a reading before gone (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, June 4 at 2210, S9 VP signal direct, so VOT is again not on 11780. THE END OF THE END, VOA, GREENVILLE Sent: Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 04:46:30 PM UTC ``Glenn, This is the last message. The two guys still at the station, Chief Engineer Macon Dail and Shift Supervisor Rex Oliver have been told their notice of termination will be forthcoming. Therefore the station is officially closed and abandoned. This, I`m sorry to say, is the end of VOA/OCB. As a former employee, it was a great experience and a fun ride. Tonight, I will face Greenville with two fingers of single malt and drink to its service. Then I will face DC with two other fingers. Please print this name and all. Be well my friend and stay in touch. 73, Glenn Swiderski, W7GS/8, Former transmitter engineer Greenville`` Dear Engineer Glenn and WOR group, How heartbreaking it is to hear these stories on a daily basis on the demise of VOA. Neither Kari Lake or the President care or have a clue regarding the reckless actions they have taken to destroy a much needed and beloved American asset. I remember the 1960's with the Breakfast Show hosted by Pat Thoren heard by more than 300 million people along with great news and jazz programs. We all grieve with you. Radio New Zealand ran an hour's program from the BBC about Voice of America's demise. I'm very worried about what will happen to these 500 KW transmitters. If the government wants to save money, it doesn't make sense to destroy VOA's assets but we know this nothing less than a personal power grab. It is not about saving taxpayers money or streamlining the budget. With heartfelt love and prayers.
